Estero Fire Rescue hosted the 2010 Cadet Conference June 23 through June 26 at Estero High School. Seventy-five cadets from all across Florida joined each other for two days of education, fun and friendship during the jam-packed sessions.
Courses included classroom sessions as well as hands-on training designed to both educate and challenge each individual. Courses included boat rescue, vehicle extrication, Women in the Fire Service, Trauma Scenarios, Public Information Officer, Terrorism and a special program by Chief John McMahon from South Trail Fire Department entitled “Duty, Pride and Tradition”, designed to bring out the best in our future firefighters. Division Chief Todd Coulter from Estero Fire Rescue coordinated the program and lead the list of 25 advisors and instructors.
The fire departments represented at the conference included Estero Fire Rescue, Bonita Springs, North Pinellas, Zephyrhills, South Trail, Keystone Heights, Broward County Sheriff’s Department, Pasco County, Boca Raton and Clermont.
