The major changes to the Resolution are as follows;
Number of free Nuisance Fire Alarms reduced from 3 to 2
Fees have been increased for Nuisance Fire Alarms:
- Alarm #3 – $100
- Alarm #4 – $200
- Alarm #5 – $300
- Alarm #6 and above – $400
A $250 fee will be charged immediately for failure to use prudent and reasonable measures to avoid Nuisance Fire Alarms. We would also like to provide you with the following information in order to avoid and reduce Nuisance Fire Alarms at your building.
- Make sure you notify any contractor working in your building that you have a monitored fire alarm.
- Make sure the contractor takes appropriate steps to ensure the work they do will not cause a Nuisance Fire Alarm. Such steps may include covering a detector, separating the area under construction by plastic sheeting, or closing doors to ensure water spray, smoke, dust or paint vapors do not cause nuisance alarm activation.
- If you or your contractors are not sure what steps to take, please contact Estero Fire Rescue at 239-390-8000 and ask for Fire Prevention.
It is the goal of Estero Fire Rescue to reduce and/or eliminate all Nuisance Fire Alarm activations. You, our customers, are an integral part of reducing these alarm activations. I hope you will take the time to review your fire alarm system and how it operates. If Estero Fire Rescue can be of any assistance please feel free to contact us.
